Places To Start Searching For A Good Plumber
So you need to find a good plumber but you are not sure where to start; allow us to help you with tips and suggestions.
Here are places to start your search for a plumber;
- Google!
- A few of our recommendations at the end of this article.
- Local yellow pages will have local plumbers you can call.
- Friends and family: ask for referrals; also, include in this list other professionals that you have had work with such as lawn care, electricians, etc.
- Use services such as Home advisor or Angie’s list for your local area. However, pay attention when using these types of sites, check the price you will pay and what that price includes.
Getting Quotes
Now that you have a list of plumber names and telephone numbers, call a couple and ask to set a time for them to come give you a quote.
When they arrive to give you the quote, be sure to find out exactly what that quote covers; labor only, labor and parts, do they clean up and remove what is being replaced?
Obviously, if it is not an emergency you can wait longer than if it is to fix a major issue that you cannot fix yourself.
Things To Look For In A Plumber
There are things you should ask to see of any plumber you hire.
- Check to be sure they are licensed and bonded
- Do they carry workman’s compensation insurance in the right amount and is it up to date
- How long have they been in business, have they been in business under any other name?
- Consider checking with the BBB to see how their record is.
- Ask if they can put you in touch with past clients as reviews for their work.
- Ask about guarantees? Is it money back or limited warranty?
- Make sure that you get the job quote, requirements, guarantee in writing.
Things to pay attention when the plumber comes to your home to give you a quote;
- Appearance, are they dressed in a uniform or torn ripped jeans and a stained tee shirt that is untucked?
- Do they show respect for your home?
- Attitude, are they polite and professional making sure you understand the work that needs to be done or just in a hurry to get on to the next quote or home for the day?
You may be wondering why those things matter; they matter because they speak to the pride the plumber takes in his work and his business. If they respect their own business there are higher chances they will respect your home and you as the customer.
